Bambú Station Band was founded in 1996 by the impassioned singer, songwriter, musician and producer Jalani Horton. In 1998, Jalani established the Bambú Station Studio and with then bandmates Don deCastro, Andy Llanos, Tuff Lion and good friend Phil Merchant, recorded 10 albums to date including 3 band albums (“Congo Moon,” “One Day” & “Break The Soil”), 3 Various Artists albums (“Talkin’ Roots I” & “II” & “Chant of the Lions I”) and 4 albums with singers Iba (2), Black Culture (1) and Ickarus (1). All but one of these albums were released on Mt. Nebo Records.

One of the heavyweight reggae rockers band on the scene today, Bambú Station has traveled to many countries on the popularity and honesty of their albums and have arguably raised the consciousness and expectations of audiences around the world in addition to endearing themselves to many reggae fans. Their performances and song content are uniquely penetrating and often times are met with excitement and personal reflection at the same time.

In addition to the band, in 2004, Jalani Horton also founded the Bambú Station Foundation whose mission is to positively impact the lives of families through its programs and events. The Foundation has conducted or organized workshops, lectures, performances and other community-based events to place band members and other performing artists in positions to raise awareness, raise monies or build community. The band’s songs speak to many community and personal issues. Consequently, many fans have been drawn to this band by the root, without big label promotion or backing by the cliché industry and its resources.

After sojourning in the USA for several years, in 2009 Bambú Station returned home to St. Thomas, VI and opened its new studio, griotLife and started recording the new chapter in the Bambú Station’s saga. In October 2010, the first track from these recordings was released on iTunes called “How Tings Ah Go.” The new album will be called “Children of Exodus” and contains some serious and outstanding stories of triumph, friendship and sacrifice. This is Rockers To The Bone! Stay tuned. Stay involved.
